CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — U.S. Olympian Connor Jaeger won the 800-meter freestyle Thursday on the opening day of the Arena Pro Swim Series meet at Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center.

Jaeger, from Fair Haven, New Jersey, finished in 8 minutes, 0.23 seconds for his third straight victory in the event in the Charlotte meet. Kevin Litherland of Alpharetta, Georgia, was second in 8:04.87, and Ryan Feeley of Rye, New York, followed in 8:05.25.

Denmark's Lotte Friis won the women's 1,500 freestyle in 16:00.32, leading a North Baltimore Aquatic Club sweep. Becca Mann of Homer Glen, Illinois, was second in 16:05.42, and Sierra Schmitt of Erdenheim, Pennsylvania, finished third in 16:23.75.
