MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The Minnesota Lynx have signed veteran forward Asjha (ay-ZHA') Jones.
The Lynx completed their contract Thursday with Jones, who recently finished the winter season with a professional team in Israel. The 34-year-old Jones, a two-time WNBA All-Star selection, has not played in the league the last two seasons because of injuries. She was acquired Wednesday from Connecticut.
Drafted by the Washington Mystics in 2002, Jones joined the Sun in 2004 trade and played nine years there. Her best season was 2008, when she averaged 17 points and 6.1 rebounds. Jones also won a gold medal with the U.S. Olympic team in 2012.
Jones will replace center Janel McCarville, who told the Lynx she won't play in the WNBA this year. Their opener is June 5 against Tulsa.
