CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Nevada senators have approved a bill that would end the state's caucus system and replace it with a primary to choose presidential nominees. The measure would preserve Nevada's influential position as one of the earliest states to nominate a presidential candidate. It now goes to the Assembly.
CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Assembly members are airing their concerns about a bill that would allow ride-hailing companies such as Uber in Nevada. Democratic Assemblywoman Marilyn Kirkpatrick said she was concerned that ride-hailing companies could poach cab business and affect revenue flowing to the state. Supporters say the bill could raise $72 million for Nevada over two years.
LAS VEGAS (AP) — NV Energy says an equipment failure at a Las Vegas substation caused a power outage affecting about 9,800 customers this morning. The power outages appeared to be concentrated near the intersection of Rainbow Boulevard and Russell Road west of Interstate 15. Only a few dozen customers were still without power by mid-afternoon.
LAS VEGAS (AP) — Caesars Palace may pay a fine of $12 million to $20 million in a U.S. Treasury Department investigation into the casino's anti-money laundering practices. Caesars Entertainment Corp. said in a quarterly financial filing yesterday that the federal investigation focused on its flagship Las Vegas Strip property.
