SAN ANTONIO (AP) — San Antonio police are trying to identify a baby whose body was found dumped in a large bag alongside Interstate 37.

Sgt. Javier Salazar says a highway worker found the bag Monday as he prepared to mow some grass near the interstate, just south of downtown. Salazar says the worker opened the bag and discovered the body.

Salazar says the baby appears to have been very young, possibly a newborn. He couldn't say how or when the baby died and provided no information on the gender of the child. An autopsy has been ordered.

He says the bag was the size of a gym bag or large purse.

No arrests have been made.
