SARASOTA, Fla. (AP) — The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office says the death of an inmate at the jail appears to have been related to hypertension.
Preliminary autopsy findings from the Medical Examiner's Office in the death of 42-year-old David Washer showed he died of hypertension, which caused his heart to swell. The findings showed no signs of any trauma to his body.
Washer died Saturday morning as he prepared to eat breakfast in his cell.
The Herald-Tribune (http://bit.ly/1J6BjsS ) reports the he was in jail on charges of violating his probation stemming from a misdemeanor battery case in which he was found guilty.
