EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) — The Minnesota Vikings have signed wide receiver Isaac Fruechte (FRICK'-tee) following the team's rookie minicamp.
The move was made on Monday, after wide receiver Kain Colter and guard Jesse Somsel were released. That left the roster at 89 players, one below the offseason limit.
Fruechte's entire career has taken place in Minnesota. He played 39 games over three college seasons for the Gophers, totaling 292 yards and one touchdown on 18 receptions as a senior. He spent his freshman year at Rochester Community and Technical College after winning two state championships at Caledonia High School, about 150 miles southeast of the Twin Cities area.
Colter, the former Northwestern quarterback, was on the practice squad last season with the Vikings.
