PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. (AP) — Authorities in Prescott Valley say 66 damaged school buses now have been repaired in what investigators believe could have been part of a senior prank.
Prescott Valley police say officers were called to the Humboldt Unified School District bus barn at about 4:30 a.m. Monday after employees reported the damage.
Police say the damage consisted mostly of the removal of valve stems to deflate multiple tires.
They say repairs necessitated outside heavy machinery such as tow trucks to re-inflate the tires and make them safe for travel.
The total damages after repairs isn't known yet.
Police originally were told that 83 buses were damaged.
District officials had to come up with alternate transportation to get several hundred children to school and were forced to cancel previously scheduled field trips.
