OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — The National Weather Service says North Texas, including the Dallas-Fort Worth area, is facing a tornado risk this evening. Two twisters have reportedly already touched down in the area. Nearly 50 Texas counties are under a tornado watch. Other areas that could see twisters today include Oklahoma, eastern Colorado and western Kansas.
ATLANTA (AP) — The medical examiner in DeKalb County, Georgia, is still working to positively identify the four people killed in a small plane crash near Atlanta. It'll probably take until early next week to positively identify the remains. The Piper PA-32 crashed and burned on an interstate Friday morning shortly after takeoff. Federal aviation safety officials are looking for the cause.
MADRID (AP) — Britain and Germany are suspending the use of the Airbus A400M after one of the big military transport planes crashed during flight trials in southwestern Spain, killing four crew members and injuring two seriously. The crash near Seville airport on Saturday is raising questions about the safety of the new, propeller-driven aircraft that's been ordered by more than 190 countries.
SARASOTA, Fla. (AP) — Officials in Florida are investigating why an ambulance was called off by Sarasota police for a man who complained of having an asthma attack while being taken into custody. The man, who officers hit twice with a Taser, later died in a hospital. The Sarasota Herald-Tribune reports police had pulled over the man late Wednesday for a non-working tag light.
HAVANA (AP) — Cuban President Raul Castro's daughter heads that country's Center for Sex Education, which has been pushing for gay rights in a nation with a history of persecuting homosexuals. A day before her father visits the Vatican, Mariela Castro today sponsored a blessing ceremony for gay couples on an island where gay marriage remains illegal.
