CHICAGO (AP) — White Sox right-hander Hector Noesi has departed in the second inning against Cincinnati with a lower back bruise.

Noesi was struck by a comebacker off the bat of Billy Hamilton with two on and two out. With manager Robin Ventura and trainer Herm Schneider watching from near the mound, Noesi tried a few warmup pitches and then walked to the dugout.

Scott Carroll came in and retired Marlon Byrd for the final out of the inning. The White Sox say Noesi is day to day.

Noesi's abbreviated start came in the opener of a traditional doubleheader on Saturday.
