MOORE, Okla. (AP) — The Plains states are bracing for more rainy weather today while other areas could get a late snowstorm. There's also a chance for tornadoes today. And the pre-season Tropical Storm Ana is swirling off the Carolinas, expected to bring rain inland.

MANILA, Philippines (AP) — Hundreds of people are being evacuated from the slopes of a rumbling volcano in the northern Philippines but not because of lava. Forecasters say a strong typhoon is headed to the region bringing heavy rain. People are evacuating to avoid muddy debris.

ISLAMABAD (AP) — Pakistan's government is dismissing Taliban claims that a helicopter that crashed with foreign dignitaries aboard was shot down. The government says it was a technical issue. The bodies of those killed, including ambassadors from the Philippines and Norway and the wives of the ambassadors from Malaysia and Indonesia, arrived a military base Saturday near the capital, Islamabad. Today is a day of mourning.

PROVO, Utah (AP) — A Utah 18-year-old could spend the rest of her life in prison after she's sentenced in July for a 50-mile crime spree that left one sheriff's deputy dead and another wounded. Prosecutors say Meagan Grunwald, who was 17 at the time, was violently in love with her much older boyfriend and would do anything to stay with him, including driving a speeding getaway car in the three-county chase. The boyfriend was killed in a shootout.

BALTIMORE (AP) — Attorneys for six Baltimore police officers charged in the death of a man who died of a spinal injury he received while in custody are asked that the case be dismissed or be assigned to another prosecutor. They allege State's Attorney Marilyn Mosby has conflicts of interest, is "overzealous" and "politically motivated."
