STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) — Police plan to charge nine men with causing more than $5,000 damage to a Penn State fraternity house that's been closed since last month.
The Centre Daily Times (http://bit.ly/1P4gWRU ) reports seven of the men will be cited for criminal mischief, because each caused less than $500 damage. Two others face misdemeanor counts because they're each accused of causing more than $500 damage.
State College police say the damage occurred at the Pi Kappa Phi mansion between March 15 and April 9. The fraternity brothers were evicted on April 8 after the national fraternity found the group violated penalties imposed over hazing, alcohol use and other behavior. The chapter can't return for at least three years.
Police say eight suspects were fraternity brothers while the ninth belonged to another fraternity.
