INDIANA, Pa. (AP) — An Indiana University of Pennsylvania student has been jailed on charges he raped two different female students in one weekend.

Police say 22-year-old Jose Aponte Jr. of Philadelphia raped the first woman early last Friday, after she blacked out from consuming alcohol. Police say Aponte's other alleged victim, who reported being raped Saturday, was also drunk but tried to fight off Aponte as he removed her clothes, choked and sexually assaulted her.

University spokeswoman Michelle Fryling says Aponte will face discipline under the school's code of conduct. The university, one of 14 state-owned schools, is located in the borough of the same name about 45 miles northeast of Pittsburgh.

Fryling says the school's "paramount concern" is supporting the alleged victims.

Aponte faces a hearing June 1.

Online court records do not list a lawyer for him who could comment on the charges.
