SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- The chairman of the Utah Board of Education may not be allowed to run for re-election.

A nominating committee appointed by the governor decided not to include Richard Sadler's name on the list of three candidates to represent the Ogden area on the state school board.

Sadler, who is a professor at Weber State University, has been a board member since 2005 and chairman since January.

Members of the 12-member nominating committee said they based their decision on Sadler's resume and letters sent in by the candidates. The group interviewed most of the candidates but weren't able to agree on a time to meet Sadler, who has been traveling lately.

The governor is expected to narrow down the list of candidates to two. Voters will make the final decision in November.
