EDEN, Utah (AP) — A Summit employee says the reason the ski resort had to bring in extra tankers of water just before Christmas was because a pump malfunctioned, not low water flow as a state letter says.
The Standard-Examiner newspaper of Ogden reports (http://bit.ly/1zz7244) that Summit's ski resort manager Mark Schroetel says they noticed that faucets were running dry during the resort's busiest season, so they requested two large tankers as a precaution.
State Division of Drinking Water engineer Bob Hart says he understand Summit had a pump issue over the holidays.
But he stands by an April 22 letter that urges Weber County not to issue any new building permits.
Hart says the spring that supplies the area's drinking water is flowing at too low a rate to sustain the community's needs.
