WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) — Some of Indiana's brightest high school students will converge on Purdue University next weekend for an annual academic competition that this year will test their knowledge of ancient Rome.
More than 600 students from 91 high schools will compete May 9 in the Academic Super Bowl state finals on the West Lafayette campus.
This year's questions about mathematics, science, fine arts and other topics will test students' knowledge of various aspects of the Roman empire.
Students will get less than 40 seconds to consult with teammates before responding to questions flashed on a screen.
The competition is organized by the Indiana Association of School Principals. Program director Kyle Harrop says the students are ready for a "pressure packed and exciting day" to show off their mastery of the subjects.
