PEORIA, Ill. (AP) — A central Illinois teacher has been arrested following accusations she had an improper relationship with a student.
Sexual abuse charges are pending against a 29-year-old Peoria High School teacher who was booked into the county jail Tuesday afternoon. The Peoria Journal Star reports she also was the head coach of the varsity girls volleyball team but resigned that position when the 2014 season ended.
The Peoria school district says an investigation began last week after allegations surfaced that the teacher was involved in an inappropriate relationship with a student. School officials say they will continue to cooperate with police in their investigation.
Police didn't release further details about the case.
