CINCINNATI (AP) — Ryan Braun was out of the Brewers' lineup on Monday night, part of manager Ron Roenicke's attempt to get more from their struggling offense.
Roenicke said that Braun was healthy enough to play, but was getting a second straight day of rest. Milwaukee was coming off a win, and the manager wanted to stay with a similar lineup for a game against Cincinnati.
Milwaukee beat St. Louis 6-3 on Sunday for only its fourth win. The Brewers have the worst record in the majors at 4-15.
Braun had soreness in his right side earlier in the season. He's batting .230 with one homer and four RBIs. Roenicke said he's healthy enough to play, but would get one more day off.
