RANSON, W.Va. (AP) — American Public University System is constructing an observatory with a 24-inch telescope on its Ranson campus.
The 240-pound PlaneWave Instruments CDK24 telescope will be located inside a metal dome on the roof of the new Information Technology Center. University spokesman Brian Muys tells The Journal (http://bit.ly/1z2ma9q ) that the dome was placed on the building on Friday.
Muys says the telescope will be operational in time for the winter semester.
The Information Technology Center is expected to be completed this summer. It will cost about $7 million.
