SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Utah Valley State College has hired a state lawmaker and businessman to help the school bolster its business image in Utah County.
U-V-S-C wants to be known as a contributor to business and economic growth in the county.
So, the school has hired Republican Rep. Steve Clark as director of the U-V-S-C Small Business Development Center.
College President William Seederburg says Clark will give U-V-S-C a major presence in the community. And he says that's important as the school works toward becoming a four-year university.
Clark's official start date at U-V-S-C was July 1. He'll earn a salary between 50-thousand and 55-thousand dollars. It's paid jointly by the college and a state/federal small business development program.
School officials say Clark has worked as an adjunct business professors at U-V-S-C.
