WASHINGTON (AP) — The chairman of the House Committee on Homeland Security says he'll consider holding hearings following Wednesday's stunt in which a Florida postal carrier flew his small gyrocopter near the U.S. Capitol. Sixty-one-year-old Doug Hughes said he wanted to call attention to the need for campaign finance reform, and the Tampa Bay Times reported that Hughes had warned the Secret Service in advance. Secret Service officials dispute that.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — An Ohio man accused of plotting to carry out a terror attack in the U.S. is expected to enter not guilty pleas when he's arraigned Friday. A federal indictment says Abdirahman Sheik Mohamud (ab-DEE'-RAH'-mahn shayk moh-HAH'-mud), of Columbus, left the country a year ago to train and fight with terrorists in Syria. The indictment also says Mohamud talked about going to a military base in Texas on his return to kill American soldiers with a backup plan to attack a prison.

PHOENIX (AP) — Police in Phoenix say a dispute about a family business may have prompted a shooting that ended in the deaths of a woman, her three adult sons and one of the son's wives. A neighbor tells the Arizona Republic newspaper that the family owned a transportation service.

NEW YORK (AP) — Ten physicians have sent a letter to Columbia University's dean, demanding that TV celebrity doctor and world-class cardiac surgeon Mehmet Oz be removed from his faculty position. The doctors accuse him of showing an "egregious lack of integrity" for promoting what they call "quack treatments" such as "miracle" weight-loss supplements. Columbia has issued a statement saying it's "committed to the principle of academic freedom and to upholding faculty members' freedom of expression for statements they make in public discussion."
