PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — A school bus driver has been cited after an angry confrontation with a bicyclist on a Portland street was caught on video.
Ryan Stover commutes on his bicycle daily and has a camera on his helmet.
He tells WMTW-TV (http://bit.ly/1GNKiPU ) the bus loaded with children passed within inches of him at about 7 a.m. Wednesday.
The driver, Leon Spear, opens the bus door and says "You got a problem?"
Stover replies: "Sir, I'm allowed to be anywhere in the road I need to be for my safety."
The driver then closes the door and drives away, prompting a cry from the cyclist whose hand is briefly caught.
Stover took the video to police who cited Spear for failing to use due care passing a bicycle. State law requires a three-foot cushion.
