CHICAGO (AP) — Minnesota Twins right-hander Ricky Nolasco is headed to the 15-day disabled list because of inflammation in his pitching elbow.

Manager Paul Molitor says the move will likely be made Saturday, with Trevor May getting called up from Triple-A Rochester. May will start Monday's home opener against Kansas City.

Nolasco (0-1) felt pain during Wednesday's 11-0 loss at Detroit. Molitor says an MRI showed no structural damage.

May was 3-6 with a 7.88 ERA in 10 appearances and nine starts last season.

Shortstop Eduardo Escobar was in the lineup against the Chicago White Sox after his fiancee gave birth to a boy — the couple's first child — Friday morning. Molitor says Escobar was planning to head to Minnesota after the game and be back in uniform Sunday.
