(KSL News) -- Recent rain and cooler weather helped crews gain the upper hand on the Bull Complex fire -- the largest fire in Utah -- in the southwestern part of the state.

It's burning about 25 miles northwest of St. George.

It is now 50 percent contained. It's expected to be 100 percent contained by Friday.

Flames have torched more than 43-thousand acres. The fire is still within a mile of two of Motoqua and about 40 homes remain threatened.

The Gunlock State Park remains closed.

A community fire information meeting will be held tonight at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chapel in Gunlock.
