LAUSANNE, Switzerland (AP) — Iran and six world powers continue nuclear talks Wednesday in Switzerland. Secretary of State John Kerry had planned to leave the discussions Tuesday, which had been the deadline for the parties to work out a framework to limit Tehran's nuclear activities in exchange for the lifting of some sanctions. But they say enough progress was made to continue negotiations. Iran's foreign minister says the drafting of an agreement should begin Wednesday.
LOS ANGELES (AP) — The Los Angeles County coroner says the death of oil heir Andrew Getty appears to be from either natural causes or an accident. But the death of the 47-year-old has been tentatively ruled as an accident because medication was found at the scene. Getty's body was found Tuesday in a bathroom in his Hollywood Hills home.
FRESNO, Calif. (AP) — Police in Fresno, California say a custody dispute could have sparked a murder-suicide at a medical office building Tuesday. Police say a man stormed into the building in downtown Fresno, fatally shooting the mother of his five children before killing himself. People hid in bathrooms at the Eye Medical Clinic and were seen climbing from the building's ground-level windows when police arrived. Police say no one else was hurt.
AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — A Republican Texas lawmaker is pushing to cut $3 million from programs to prevent HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases and spend that money on abstinence education. The measure from state Rep. Stuart Spitzer was tucked into the state budget Tuesday night, despite objections from Democrats. Federal health officials say in 2013, Texas had the third-highest number of HIV diagnoses in the country.
TOKYO (AP) — The world's oldest person has died at age 117. Her nursing home in Oskaka, Japan says Misao Okawa died of heart failure early Wednesday after losing her appetite 10 days ago. Okawa said at her birthday celebration just last month that her life seemed rather short. She leaves behind four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
