NEW YORK (AP) — Pitcher Jose Mijares has been suspended for 50 games under baseball's minor league drug program following a second positive test for a drug of abuse.

The 30-year-old left-hander last pitched in the major leagues with San Francisco in 2013. He agreed to a minor league contract with Cincinnati's Louisville team on Dec. 28 and was released March 23.

His suspension, announced Tuesday, will start when he signs with another big league organization.

Mijares has a 6-11 record and 3.23 ERA in 324 relief appearances for Minnesota (2008-11), Kansas City (2012) and the Giants (2012-13). He faced one batter in the 2012 World Series, retiring Detroit's Prince Fielder on a groundout leading off the ninth inning of San Francisco's 8-3 win in Game 1.

Of the 44 suspensions under the minor league program this year, 24 have been for drugs of abuse.
