LAUSANNE, Switzerland (AP) — There are signs of discord at the Iran nuclear talks, as negotiators try to hammer out a preliminary deal ahead of an end-of-March deadline. Secretary of State John Kerry, along with the foreign ministers of France and Germany, are negotiating with Iran's top diplomat. A Russian official puts the chances of a deal "significantly" above 50 percent.

SISTERON, France (AP) — The father of one of the victims of Tuesday's plane crash in the French Alps is calling for airlines to take greater care over pilots' welfare. Philip Bramley, whose 28-year-old son was one of 150 people killed, says action must be taken to ensure the incident isn't repeated. Officials believe German co-pilot Andreas Lubitz deliberately crashed the Germanwings flight.

MAIDUGURI, Nigeria (AP) — Witnesses and officials say Boko Haram extremists have killed 39 people, including a legislator, in northeastern Nigeria, disrupting the presidential election. The military had said Friday it had cleared the Islamic extremists from all major centers in the region. Elsewhere, tens of millions of Nigerians took part in the closely contested and largely peaceful election.

BOSTON (AP) — A decorated Boston police officer remains in critical condition in a medically induced coma after being shot in the face Friday night when gang unit officers stopped a car. Commissioner William Evans says 34-year-old Officer John Moynihan was struck just below his right eye and the bullet is still lodged below his right ear. The suspect was fatally shot by other officers.

DUNMORE, Pa. (AP) — A Pennsylvania trooper wounded in a deadly ambush outside his barracks last fall says he hopes to eventually return to the state police force. Trooper Alex Douglass, wounded in the Sept. 12 shooting that killed Cpl. Bryon Dickson, made his first public remarks today. Police arrested a suspect, survivalist Eric Frein (FREEN), after a 48-day manhunt.
