YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (AP) — Carl Pelini will coach the defensive line at Youngstown State for his younger brother and new head coach Bo Pelini.
The Penguins announced the staff Tuesday in conjunction with the start of spring practice.
Carl Pelini was Bo's defensive coordinator at Nebraska from 2008-11 and then was head coach at Florida Atlantic. He was in the middle of his second season with the Owls when he and an assistant were let go after being confronted about reports of their alleged use of illegal drugs. Carl Pelini has denied he used illegal drugs.
Other assistant coaches or staff members from Nebraska who are now Youngstown assistants are Ron Brown (running backs), Brian Crist (wide receivers), Mike Brey (tight ends and special teams), T.J. Hollowell (linebackers) and Tim Marlowe (assistant secondary).
