NEW YORK (AP) — The NHL has suspended Chicago Blackhawks forward Joakim Nordstrom for two games for an illegal hit on Arizona Coyotes defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson.
The league announced the punishment Friday. Nordstrom also loses $6,631 in salary that goes to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.
The play occurred at 19:22 of the third period of Chicago's 2-1 win at Arizona on Thursday night. Nordstrom received a minor penalty for boarding.
He will miss Saturday's game at San Jose, and Tuesday night's matchup with the New York Islanders at the United Center.
