CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Nevada lawmakers have pushed through two bills expanding tax breaks for businesses with high-paying jobs and the state's aerospace industry.
The Senate Committee on Revenue and Economic Development voted unanimously to approve SB 74 and SB 93 on Tuesday.
SB 74 would require businesses to pay higher wages to qualify for tax abatements and create a tiered abatement system based on unemployment levels. SB 93 would extend tax abatements to businesses that create or service aircraft, including the drone industry.
Governor's Office of Economic Development head Steve Hill said the bills would help create higher paying jobs in stable industries. Lt. Gov. Mark Hutchison said the bill has wide support in the Legislature and has Gov. Brian Sandoval's support.
