WASHINGTON (AP) — NHL goals leader Alex Ovechkin was scratched from the Washington Capitals' lineup Thursday night against the streaking Minnesota Wild.
The Capitals said Ovechkin, who missed the morning skate, is day-to-day with a lower-body injury.
He leads the league with 43 goals and is tied with linemate Nicklas Backstrom for the points lead with (67. Ovechkin scored two goals in each of Washington's last two games, both wins.
The Capitals also recalled Andre Burakovsky from Hershey of the American Hockey League. He has nine goals and 12 assists in 48 games this season with Washington.
