PHOENIX (AP) — A judge in Arizona has declared a mistrial in the Jodi Arias sentencing retrial after jurors deadlocked on whether she should be executed or sent to prison for life for killing her lover in 2008. Today's decision removes the death penalty as an option. The judge must now decide whether to sentence Arias to either life in prison or a life term with the possibility of release after 25 years. It's the second time a jury has deadlocked on her punishment for killing Travis Alexander. She was convicted of first-degree murder in 2013.

PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. (AP) — A Georgia prosecutor says he intends to seek a misdemeanor charge of reckless conduct against a police chief who shot his wife on New Year's Day. Peachtree City police Chief William McCollom called 911 early Jan. 1 and reported accidentally shooting his wife while moving a handgun in their bed. Margaret McCollom was seriously injured but survived. District Attorney Scott Ballard says there is no evidence to support bringing felony charges.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court says it will make audio available on the same day it hears arguments over same-sex marriage. The arguments are set for Tuesday, April 28, and the court says the audio and a transcript of the proceedings should be available on the court's website that afternoon. It's the only time this term that the court has agreed to the quick release of audio recordings. Lawyers on both sides will get 90 minutes to argue whether gay and lesbian couples have a constitutional right to marry everywhere in the U.S. Another hour will be devoted to whether states must recognize same-sex unions performed elsewhere.

NEW YORK (AP) — A Port Authority spokesman says both runways at New York's LaGuardia airport are closed until further notice, after a plane arriving from Atlanta skidded off the runway and crashed through a chain-link fence. Emergency responders are still assessing the conditions of the 125 passengers and five crew members who were on Delta Flight 1086, but fire officials say any injuries appear to be minor. Passengers had to slide down an inflated chute and trudge through snow before being bused to a terminal. The National Transportation Safety Board is headed to the scene.

CINCINNATI (AP) — The actor who played George Costanza's boss on "Seinfeld" has died. Daniel von Bargen was 64. No cause of death was provided by a funeral home owner who says the actor died Sunday in the Cincinnati area. In addition to the role of Mr. Kruger on Seinfeld, von Bargen played Commandant Edwin Spangler on "Malcom in the Middle." His film credits include "The Silence of the Lambs," ''O Brother, Where Art Thou?" and "Lord of Illusions."
