ST. GEORGE, Utah (AP) — The Utah Attorney General's Office is recommending the Iron County School District change some of the ways it does business but says it found no evidence the school board violated the state's open meeting laws.
The (St. George) Spectrum reports (http://tinyurl.com/maemax8) the AG's office investigated a complaint brought by an Iron County resident who argued the rules were broken regarding approval of the purchase of property next to the school district offices.
School board spokesman Stephen Allen said in a statement the few areas of improvement the investigators recommended included the way the district handles sessions held behind closed doors. They say the board should not enter a closed session for one stated reason — such as personnel matters — then discuss any other issues during that same closed session.
