SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) — The Association for Black Culture Centers will move its headquarters to Northern Illinois University's DeKalb campus this July.

University officials say the transition is expected to take up to two years.

The association is moving from its current location at Knox College in Illinois. It serves African-American, Latino, Native American and Asian-American campus culture centers across the country.

NIU officials say the association coming to the campus will add to the educational experience for students. Initiatives hosted by the association are expected to prepare graduates for working in a global marketplace.

Three members of the association leadership team will join the faculty and staff as part of an agreement.

A welcome event is planned for March 27 at the university's Altgeld Hall.
