NEW YORK (AP) — The Brooklyn Nets plan to sign forward Thomas Robinson once he clears waivers, a person with knowledge of the situation said Monday.

Robinson was waived Sunday by the Denver Nuggets, who had acquired him from Portland on Thursday at the trade deadline. The former No. 5 overall pick would likely sign Wednesday if no team claims him, the person told The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because no moves can become official until after the waiver process is completed.

Robinson wrote on Twitter on Monday: "All thanks to GOD ! Thank you Brooklyn."

The 6-foot-9 Robinson was sent to Denver in the deal that brought Arron Afflalo to Portland. Taken by Sacramento with the No. 5 pick in the 2012 draft, he has also played for Houston, averaging 4.6 points and 4.4 rebounds in 172 games.

The Nets' plans were first reported by Yahoo Sports.
