OGDEN — It was all Pleasant Grove in the opening round of the boys 5A basketball tournament Monday, beating Alta 66-44.
Senior Riley Court lead the way for the Vikings, finishing with 27 points, 13 rebounds and four assists in the team’s dominant victory.
“I say before every game that I’m really glad that he’s on my team,” said Pleasant Grove head coach Randy McAllister.
The Vikings started the game out slow, but went on an 18-3 run to finish out the second quarter to push the lead to 25-17 at halftime.
“It took 8 minutes for us to relax, breathe and get our feet underneath us,” McAllister said. “I was glad we played good enough defense to keep the game close in the first quarter.”
Coming out of halftime, the Vikings pushed the intensity and managed to get more of their shots to fall, with 10 players scoring. McAllister said the defense, though, was key to the improved play in the second half, setting up the Vikings for a more convincing lead.

The Vikings will play the winner of the Davis-Granger game Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at the Dee Events Center in Ogden.
