Carole Mikita ReportingChildren who fly and sailors who sing, it's all part of the 2006 season of 'Broadway in the Desert'. Tuacahn has opened this summer with two musicals,' South Pacific' and 'Peter Pan'.

The irresistible imp of Neverland once again enchants the Darling children, Wendy, Michael, John, and off they go. This time the backdrop is red rock country in Southern Utah, which the actors call perfect for 'Peter Pan'.

Jan Broberg, 'Mrs. Darling': "It's spectacular here at Tuacahn. You have to come to Tuacahn just to be in the setting, just to be in the cliffs, in the red rock, the mountains. To look out and see a show on a stage like this is just one of those remarkable experiences. You can't have this kind of an experience any place else."

The message, they say, about eternal youth and freedom brings the generations together.

Kenneth Wayne, 'Smee': "You're never too old to take a nap. You're never too old to play tag. At least, you should never be too old to do those things."

Some of the cast and crew are veterans of this show, having performed it last with Broadway's Cathy Rigby.

Michael Hawkins, 'Captain Hook': "My favorite part about being in 'Peter Pan'? Just watching the kids' faces in the audience. All the kids, they have such a great time. I would never tire of it. I did it for two years on the road, two shows before that; I've done and this one and I'm still not tired of watching kids watch the show."

Love and loss, enchantment and danger intertwine through the musical 'South Pacific'.

'South Pacific' performances run through Sept. 2nd, on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday nights. 'Peter Pan' is on 'Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays through Sept. 1st.
