SALT LAKE CITY — A driver was ejected from his vehicle during a rollover crash on I-215 Thursday morning.

Troopers said the driver was on the ramp from southbound I-215 to I-80 West, near Salt Lake International Airport, when he lost control of his pickup truck.

Witness reported seeing the truck swerve from one side of the road to the other, then rolling down the embankment.

Troopers say the driver was thrown from the truck, and was pinned under it when firefighters arrived.

"It does not appear that he was wearing a seat belt," said Sgt. Steve Manful of the UHP. "Had he been wearing his seat belt he would have most likely stayed in the vehicle and his injuries would be substantially less."

The injured man is in critical condition, according to UHP.

The ramp was shut while a medical helicopter landed on the interstate. It has since re-opened.
