ELKO, Nev. (AP) — Unusually warm weather has given construction crews a head start on a series of building projects in Elko, including two new hotels and an apartment complex.
The Elko Daily Free Press reports (http://tinyurl.com/lb4cld4) three new hotels are on the drawing board that will add about 245 rooms — roughly 80 each.
Construction has started on a Hampton Inn next to the Gold Dust West Elko. Both are owned by Jacobs Investments Inc., which plans to open the four-story hotel in summer 2016.
City building official Ted Schnoor said work also is underway for the Ledgestone hotel and the 120-unit Tanamera apartments.
Officials for TownePlace Suites by Marriott intend to present plans to the city next week for a new Fairfield Inn by Marriott. It's supposed to break ground in May and open mid-2016.
