SALT LAKE CITY — Local singer-songwriter Timmy The Teeth is set to release a new album Feb. 20, and it showcases the singer’s down-to-earth, everyday living lyrics with his unique heart-felt vocals.

Timothy George, who goes by Timmy The Teeth in his music, has been working on this record since last summer, and he hopes it conveys all the feeling and ideas he had while writing and recording it.

“The album is just my life, and it’s honest, and I feel like if I’m being honest, other people can see that and relate to it,” George said.

In his songs, he discusses the simple, and sometimes not so simple, things everyone faces in life. In one song from the album, “Dollar Train” he speaks of the difficulty of “making a living on the honest man’s wage.” Another, “Dear Lizzy,” is about the recent death of his dog.

The idea of chronicling his life through his music is an idea when George has always placed emphasis. Through his relatable lyrics, he hopes everyone can find answers to questions for themselves.

His first album, “White Horse,” was released in 2012, and he says he already feels a distance from the album, and the songs on it because of the change he has seen in his life.

“It’s just like going back and looking through the photo album, seeing how you’ve grown, and seeing the person you were,” George said. “I like to think I’ve changed and I’m growing and evolving. I hope my songs also change.”

George grew up around music and started playing at an early age. His dad played guitar and would bring it out on occasion, but he was very careful to put it away — safe from children’s prying hands.

“The guitar was always like this mystical thing whenever it was brought out,” George said. “I think that’s what made it more attractive is that it would be brought out, then put back away.”

In his early teens, George began playing seriously and soon began writing his music. He found how well he could express himself through music and began writing more and more.

“It’s been a therapeutic thing for me, just not really thinking about it,” George said. “It’s a way for me to communicate. It’s easier for me to express my feelings through it.”

Timmy The Teeth will be releasing his new album later this week at Velour Live Music Gallery in Provo. Fans can hear his first album now on bandcamp.com.
