SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Police say a 57-year-old man driving a Jeep has died after car crash in West Valley City this morning. Police said Michael Nielson was turning onto 35th South from 46th West when his car was hit by a pickup truck. The man in the truck was transported to the hospital with serious injuries.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A new report by legal scholars says Utah's push to wrest control of 31 million acres of federally controlled land would lead to less public access, less public involvement in land-use decisions and more drilling and strip mining. Utah Assistant Attorney General Tony Rampton told The Salt Lake Tribune it's in the state's interest to promote tourism and recreation as much as mineral development.
OGDEN, Utah (AP) — Police are still investigating two fatal traffic wrecks in Weber County. Sheriff's deputies say LeLand Ogg of South Ogden was killed when his car crossed a center line and crashed into an oncoming vehicle. On Saturday night, police say a man riding his motorcycle was killed in a collision with a vehicle making a left turn at an Ogden intersection.
FRUIT HEIGHTS, Utah (AP) — Authorities say human bones have been found in the same area where a skull was discovered in Davis County, but they're unsure how long the remains had been there. A Sheriff's spokesman says clothing also was found in the area as the search continued over the weekend.
