RASNOV, Romania (AP) — Sara Takanashi of Japan won a women's ski jump World Cup event on Sunday while American Nita Englund earned her first podium finish by coming second.
The event was shortened to one round because of poor weather conditions, with Takanashi jumping 95 meters to win on 121.4 points. Englund jumped 94 meters for 118.3 points, with Daniela Iraschko-Stolz of Austria another 1.4 points back in third.
Takanashi is the defending overall World Cup champion and showed she is finding her best form ahead of this month's world championships in Falun, Sweden.
Reigning world champion Sarah Hendrickson of the United States finished 14th on Sunday.
