JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — Javeres Brent scored 21, and Kaven Bernard tied a career-high with 20 points to lead Jackson State past Arkansas-Pine Bluff 69-45 on Monday night.

Brent connected on 7 of 13 from 3-point range and Bernard made 7 of 13 field goals and 5 of 5 free throws for Jackson State (6-16, 4-5 Southwestern), which trailed 23-21 at the break after shooting just 18.5 percent (5 of 27) in the first half.

The Tigers, however, opened the second with a 28-6 run, which was capped by a three-point play by Bernard, and led 49-29 midway through.

UAPB (7-16, 4-5), which trailed by as many as 28, would get no closer than down 18 the rest of the way.

Jackson State made 19 of 29 (65.5 percent) second-half field goals, including 8 of 15 from 3-point range.

Marcel Mosley led UAPB, which made just 9 of 39 (23.1 percent) field goals, with 17 points on 1-of-13 shooting.
