WASHINGTON (AP) — House Speaker John Boehner (BAY'-nur) says President Barack Obama's $4 trillion spending plan will result in more taxes, more spending and more gridlock. The measure calls for raising taxes on the wealthy while boosting tax credits for families and the working poor. Hundreds of millions would be used to fix crumbling roads and bridges and other infrastructure.

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) — A prosecutor in British Columbia says two Canadians who referred to themselves as "al-Qaida Canada" built pressure-cooker bombs and planted them on the grounds of the provincial legislature hours before Canada Day festivities. John Nuttall and Amanda Korody have pleaded not guilty to charges including conspiring to commit murder. They were arrested in July 2013 after an undercover operation.

ROSWELL, Georgia (AP) — Her family says Bobbi Kristina Brown, the 21-year-old daughter of the late Whitney Houston, is "fighting for her life." Police in Roswell, Georgia, an Atlanta suburb, say officers responded Saturday to a call about a "drowning." The family issued a statement today expressing thanks for an outpouring of concern. Whitney Houston died three years ago this month. Her body was found face-down in a bathtub.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — A jury in Minneapolis has ended its third full day of deliberations without a verdict in a case that alleges a 1996 Toyota Camry had a design defect that caused a fatal crash. Jurors told a federal judge they've been unable to reach a unanimous decision. They were asked to keep trying. The plaintiffs include the driver, who was convicted of vehicular homicide and sent to prison.

DETROIT (AP) — A Detroit man who walks 21 miles to get to and from work and has had perfect attendance for 12 years says he's amazed so many people have made donations to help him get transportation. After the Detroit Free Press reported on James Robertson's daily trek to a factory job, a college student launched a GoFundMe site that has now raised more than $90,000 for a vehicle and insurance coverage.
