JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — The Jacksonville Jaguars have hired former Oakland Raiders running backs coach Kelly Skipper to the same position and parted ways with Terry Richardson.
Skipper spent the previous eight seasons with the Raiders, the last six as running backs coach and two as tight ends coach.
He worked in Oakland alongside new Jaguars offensive coordinator Greg Olson, who was given leeway to make changes after taking over last week.
Skipper has 26 years of coaching experience, including 18 at the collegiate level. He spent time at Washington State (2003-06), UCLA (1998-2002) and at his alma mater, Fresno State (1989-97).
The Jaguars are counting on him to help improve a running game that ranked 21st in the NFL in 2014 and 31st the year before.
