SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Mitt Romney says one of the biggest challenges facing the country is climate change and that global solutions are needed to combat it. In a speech to an investment management conference last night in Salt Lake City, Romney said that more needs to be done to deal with poverty in America. He said the education system needs help too, and that teacher pay should be higher.

Kevin Jorgeson and his partner became the first to free-climb the Dawn Wall at El Capitan in a feat that captured international attention.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A federal judge says two brothers of polygamous sect leader Warren Jeffs can cite their religion in refusing to answer some questions about suspected child labor violations on a Utah pecan farm. Nephi and Lyle Jeffs testified yesterday that their church doctrine bars them from talking about its dealings. The two are considered high-ranking members of the secretive sect.
IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) — Former Iowa and Utah head football coach Ray Nagel has died at age 87. The University of Iowa says Nagel died Jan. 15 in San Antonio. His daughter Nancy Nagel confirmed her father's death when reached by phone yesterday. The Los Angeles native played quarterback for UCLA and was head coach at Utah from 1958 to 1965.
