BOISE, Idaho (AP) — A spokesman for Idaho Gov. C.L. "Butch" Otter says the governor is resting comfortably after undergoing hip replacement surgery on Tuesday.
Otter announced last week that he would have the surgery to repair a deteriorating hip joint. He underwent a similar procedure on his other hip several years ago.
Otter's spokesman, Jon Hanian, released a prepared statement Tuesday afternoon saying that the governor is expected to remain in the hospital for the next few days while he recovers.
The statement said Otter's doctors say the surgery was a success and that the governor is doing fine.
Lt. Gov. Brad Little is serving as acting governor while Otter is incapacitated. Otter is expected to work from home in the coming weeks until doctors clear him to return to his office.
