GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) — The Arizona Coyotes have recalled goalie Mike Lee from Gwinnett of the ECHL to serve as starter Mike Smith's backup.

Arizona traded backup Devan Dubnyk to Minnesota for a third-round draft pick on Wednesday and will give Lee the first shot at being Smith's backup.

The 24-year-old Lee was 1-3-1 with a 2.98 goals-against average and .897 save percentage in five games with the Gladiators this season.

Lee was originally a third-round pick by the Coyotes in the 2009 NHL draft.
