DAVIS COUNTY — A deputy found a substantial amount of drugs and more than $2,000 in cash after stopping a car with revoked registration, officials said.

Terry McKissick, who also had no proof of insurance for the car, told the deputy his license was denied because of a previous DUI, according to the Davis County Sheriff’s Office. Sgt. DeeAnn Servey said the vehicle was stopped at about 11 p.m. Jan. 7.

After verifying McKissick didn’t have a valid license or registration and insurance for the vehicle, the deputy informed the man his car would be impounded to comply with state law, according to the sheriff’s office.

The deputy then told McKissick, who is from the Ogden area and is 55 years old, that he would need to find a ride home.

“The deputy began to log and inventory the items in the vehicle when he came across some very interesting and illegal items — a baggie with white crystals inside (presumably meth), half a pound of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and over $2,000 in cash,” a post on the sheriff’s office's Facebook page reads. “The investigation took a turn and the driver successfully found a ride from his vehicle being towed — in the back of a patrol car headed to jail!”

McKissick was booked into the Davis County Jail on suspicion of driving on a suspended or revoked license, possession or use of a controlled substance, and fraudulent manufacture, distribution or solicitation of a controlled substance. The incident is part of an active investigation involving the Metro Narcotic Task Force, according to Servey.
