This is Chris Redgrave for Zions Bank Speaking on Business.

It's not everybody who can say they started a successful company right out of college that is now operating in seven states. However, that's the case for David Haase, founder of C&G Electrical in Vernal.

While attending school at Uintah Basin Applied Technology College, one of David's goals was to become a master electrician. He found Chuck Hodgkinson, a master electrician with years of experience, and became his apprentice. Under his guidance David went on to become a master electrician himself. And the need for electrical services in the energy industry emerged, so he and Chuck partnered with to form C&G Electrical.

C&G Electrical is a leading provider of electrical services and power equipment to the oil and gas industry nationwide. The company provides generators, power distribution, light towers, fuel systems and electrical systems. They rent, deliver and service the equipment used in the oilfields. The operation started small with one shop in Vernal in 2003, then expanded into Colorado one year later. What followed was entrance into the other energy states such as North Dakota, Wyoming, Pennsylvania, New Mexico and Texas. Although the corporate headquarters is now in Colorado, David says they're proud to be a Utah company, and still have a strong presence in Vernal.

Over the years C&G Electrical has evolved from an electrical contractor to an energy services company, and David says the expansion wouldn't have been possible without some of their vendors like Wyoming Machinery in Casper, Wyoming. The company continues to grow, and David recently brought Jim Herd on as the CEO to run this thriving business.

The team now includes over 60 employees, and they have approximately 500 pieces of equipment in the field every year. C&G Electrical considers themselves a one-stop shop, a company that can help with anything from a generator to sending an electrician. Customers love the convenience and expertise they provide.

While Chuck is retired from the business, David continues to seek him out as a mentor. He says Chuck taught him all he knows about electrical at C&G Electrical.
