LEANDER, Texas (AP) — A former high school teacher is facing multiple charges after investigators say he sexually assaulted a student who was babysitting for his family.
Joshua Riggins is charged with sexual assault of a child and two counts of improper relationship between an educator and a student.
Authorities say the student told a sheriff's deputy that she was babysitting in October when Riggins and his wife came home. She says she and Riggins watched a movie after Riggins' wife went to bed. The student says they were wrestling on the floor before he grabbed her by the hair and sexually assaulted her.
Riggins taught at Rouse High School. A spokeswoman says he was put on administrative leave but has submitted his resignation.
Online court records did not list an attorney for Riggins.
